Refund & Returns Policy

1. Overview

3241 Foundation NPC (“3241 Foundation“, “we“, “us“, “our“) is a registered Public Benefit Organisation. Unlike a retail store, we do not sell goods or services — donations made through our Website are voluntary contributions to our public benefit activities. This policy explains our approach to refunds for once-off and monthly recurring donations made through https://3241.co.za.

This policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

2. General policy: donations are final

As a general rule, donations made to 3241 Foundation are final and non-refundable. Once a donation is received, it is allocated towards our approved public benefit activities, and in most cases a Section 18A tax certificate will be issued reflecting the donation.

3. When a refund may be considered

We will consider a refund only in the following limited circumstances:

  1. Duplicate charges — where you were accidentally charged more than once for the same donation;
  2. Processing or technical errors — where a technical or processing fault resulted in an incorrect amount being charged, or a donation being processed in error; or
  3. Unauthorised transactions — where a donation was made without your authorisation (for example, in the case of a disputed or fraudulent card transaction), subject to our right to verify the circumstances.

Refunds are considered at our discretion and are not automatic. Genuine change of mind is not, on its own, grounds for a refund.

4. How to request a refund

If you believe you qualify for a refund under Section 3 above, please contact us within 14 days of the transaction at:

Email: info@3241.co.za

Please include your full name, the date of the donation, the amount, and, where available, proof of payment or a transaction reference number.

We will investigate your request and respond within a reasonable time. If your refund is approved, it will be processed back to the original payment method used, via our payment gateway (currently expected to be PayFast or Paystack). Processing times for the refund to reflect in your account may vary depending on your bank or card issuer and are outside our control.

5. Recurring (monthly) donations

  1. Cancellation. If you have set up a monthly recurring donation, you may cancel it at any time via your donor dashboard on the Website. Cancellation stops future scheduled payments from the date of cancellation.
  2. Past payments. Cancelling a recurring donation does not automatically refund any donation(s) already processed prior to cancellation. Any refund request for a past payment will be assessed under Section 3 above.
  3. Timing. If you cancel shortly before your next scheduled payment date, please note that, depending on processing times with our payment gateway, a payment already in progress may not be able to be stopped. Please contact us at info@3241.co.za if this occurs and we will assist wherever possible.

6. Effect of a refund on your Section 18A tax certificate

If a donation is refunded, any Section 18A tax certificate issued for that donation will no longer be valid, as it must reflect the actual amount genuinely donated to 3241 Foundation. Where a refund is approved after a certificate has already been issued, we will contact you to arrange for the certificate to be corrected, reissued for the adjusted amount, or withdrawn, as applicable, in order to remain compliant with SARS requirements. You may not make use of a tax certificate corresponding to a donation that has been refunded.

7. Fees

Where our payment gateway charges a transaction fee on a donation, that fee is generally non-refundable, even where the underlying donation is refunded, as it reflects a cost already incurred with the payment processor.
